To say that Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing Team had a career year in 2009 is probably a gross understatement. The North American time trial competitors used their Scion tC to put a stranglehold on Unlimited Front-Wheel Drive classes from Southern California to New Jersey — a thorough dominance rarely seen in any motorsport.

In a car that was completely revamped from 2008, Rado shaved enormous amounts of time from his personal marks and, more importantly, won his class and set records at seven consecutive time attacks, including the final six Redline Time Attack events of 2009. The performances earned Rado the Unlimited FF season title in the Super Lap Battle season finale and the Unlimited FWD season championship in the Redline series.

Along the way, the WORLD Racing tC has blown a few doors off of some high-priced sports cars and exotics, much to their owners’ chagrin. “It’s all about going fast, and doing things that have never been done before,” Rado explains.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Much of the team’s success in 2009 was directly related to the tC it had developed. The specialized Scion sports coupe features a methanol-optimized stroker motor, a so-called “Booyah Button” that locks the turbocharger’s wastegate to deliver an estimated 45 psi to the engine in short bursts, and a re-geared Xtrac sequential transmission.

But the modification that had everyone talking was the huge front wing on the tC, which generates hundreds of pounds of forward downforce at speed. This helps the car hold onto the road through turns and carry unheard of amounts of momentum; in fact, Rado relates that on the Turn-2 bank at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., the car sustained over 2.8 g at an event last year, and consistently entered the turn faster than the NASCAR stock cars that use the two-mile oval.

The record-breaking tC is back for 2010, but improved. The entire front end has been chopped off — basically from the firewall forward — and the team fabricated and attached a stiffer tube structure to the chassis to reduce flex. Ride height is also lower, a wider Continental tire is being adopted for more exit speed and corner grip (from a 275 to a 305), and for the first time the car will use a limited traction control system.

More power was squeezed from the turbo 2AZ-FE motor under hood, so that the tC now makes roughly 1,100 horsepower at the front wheels. Because the intake charge is so dense in the chamber, the team had to greatly increase the engine’s ignition power, accomplished with a quartet of MSD coils (Rado points out that it’s twice the ignition power of a Funny Car).

Finally, an important personnel addition was made to the WORLD Racing Team in the off season. Ron Mathis will assume the role of Crew Chief for the squad in 2010, drawing on his years of experience in motorsports. Mathis was most recently an engineer for Audi’s American Le Mans LMP1 team.

Rado, Mathis and the entire WORLD Team bring their collective experience to bear on the time attack program because one of its goals is to transfer the gleaned knowledge and technology to a new platform. Partway through 2010, WORLD Racing will debut its all-wheel drive Scion tC on one of the biggest stages imaginable: the World Time Attack Challenge.

The World Time Attack Challenge, presented by Super Lap Australia, culls the most elite teams from the United States, Japan, and Australia and pits them against one another on Eastern Creek Raceway in New South Wales. The inaugural event happens May 21 and 22, and WORLD Racing is one of only three American teams invited.

The AWD tC boasts an entirely custom drivetrain that employs a Weismann gearbox and transfer case (as opposed to the Xtrac box found in the FWD car). The Weismann trans permits the quick change of ratios and uses equal length half shafts (and no intermediate shaft), useful for minimizing torque steer.

WORLD Racing developed custom hubs to run more aggressive brakes on the AWD car, and the suspension has been altered from a Macpherson-strut setup to double wishbones. The car is also some 600 pounds lighter than the front-drive tC, and will reportedly come with a more powerful E85-fueled engine.

Finally, the AWD tC will look markedly different from the FWD Scion due to its distinctive aero configuration. Forward grip will come courtesy of large dive planes at each corner and a massive splitter underneath. There will still be a large wing, but it will be mounted closer to the body of the car — and will also be 10 inches wider.

All of this effort is going toward meeting a handful of intermediate objectives that include capturing an elusive overall event championship in the FWD tC and a National Auto Sport Association Time Trial title. As Rado puts it, he wants to be the fastest time attack driver on the planet. “I don’t shoot out street lights; I aim for the moon and the stars.”

When WORLD Racing meets its goals, it should have Rado thoroughly documented, as it plans to gather lots of video content this year. With it, the team hopes to produce short recaps of each event it contests.

Over the weekend we heard unconfirmed rumors that Chris Rado had driven his Scion tC into the 6’s at Pomona, making it the first front-drive drag car ever to do so. There has been a little discrepancy regarding the time, but I just got off the phone with Chris who gave me the the quick rundown of what happened. With the car running faster than ever, and a solid coating of rubber on the track Chris laid down an astonishing 6.97 second ET during eliminations.

Unfortunately the incredible traction that the car had off the line caused the timing beams to misread the 60-foot time, technically making the ET “unofficial”. Nonetheless, the complete 1/4 mile time is still legit by all accounts.

The drag racing was just part of Rado’s wild week, which included record breaking time attack runs at both Buttonwillow and Fontana. He’ll be posting a blog here soon with the story in his own words.

Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing team were excited to head to their last time attack event of the 2008 season, the Super Street Super Lap Battle Finals at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Finishing off the season as the Redline Time Attack Unlimited FF National Champion, Chris was hopeful to be able to finish his Super Lap Battle season successful as well.

This Super Lap Battle would bring competitors from not only all over the nation, but from all over the world. But one thing was clear; WORLD Racing was the team to beat at this event, there was no question about that.

Chris and the team made it out to the track a day early for practice. They wanted to make sure the WORLD Racing Scion tC was in top shape for the event in order to bring home a win. Not only would the tC need to be on-point, but the team needed to strategize a plan because of some of the mechanical limitations with the vehicle. Chris and the WORLD Racing team put together a plan that would allow them to run a good time in the first session, while the track was still fresh.

Everything seemed to be going great during the practice session Tuesday. Chris was running lap times in the low 1:56’s and he and the team were sure they could go out there and run even better times the next day on fresh tires. So the team packed everything up, and was ready to rock for the competition.

After confirming Wednesday that, just as the previous year at this event, times would count in the first session as well as the three sessions after that, Chris and the team were ready to put down a good number in the first session. “We were pretty confident that if we went out there with a stock transmission and a TRD diff, that we could lay down a pretty good number,” says Chris.

That’s just what they did. Unfortunately, 10 minutes before the session they announced that it would not count and it was too late for the team to change the transmission to use for another session. So in the first session, Chris put down a 1:54.43, the quickest lap time for a front-wheel-drive car the entire event. To WORLD Racing’s dismay, however, that the first session would not count – only the last three sessions.

Chris and the team were very frustrated about this, but knew the only thing they could do was to get back on track and try to run a good number again.

The team had to change transmissions in the tC, which caused them some problems, forcing them to scrap the second session all together. The team got out there again in the third session with a upgraded differential, which they had been excited to run because of its special track-friendly capabilities. To the team’s disadvantage, unfortunately, they found out quickly that the differential was defective and wouldn’t allow Chris to make a single lap.

For the fourth and final session, the team put another stock transmission back in, knowing that it would last them this session, even though they wouldn’t have as much grip with the increased track and weather temps. Chris knew he had his work cut out for him, since besides not having as much grip, the track conditions were poor in the final session, as it had been beat up pretty bad and some fluids had been dropped.

In the third session, Chris ran a 1:56.1 and finished the event in 2nd place behind Hiranaka in the 5Zigen Honda Accord.

As frustrating as it was for Chris and the WORLD Racing team to not place first in the overall event standings, they were proud that they ran the fastest lap of the day, even if it didn’t count. “When it came to who was ready to race,” says Chris, “there was no one as prepared as WORLD Racing. We changed two transmissions during the day, swapped multiple parts, and were ready for every round of competition. We have the best crew in the entire world.”

Chris continues: “Special thanks to Ty Cooley, who in his first year on board as crew chief, has helped WORLD Racing achieve one national championship, nine victories, and seven track records all over the nation. What a great season.”

The “off” season, is not necessarily “off” for WORLD Racing. WORLD Racing will be heading to PRI December 11-13 in Orlando, Florida where they will be displaying not only their time attack SCION tC, but also their new Descendant product line, as well as their new boost controller, the BD-1. Also, in the “off” season, WORLD Racing will be fixing the inherent mechanical limitations they have battled against in their FWD time attack car and also will be in the process of building their new unlimited time attack AWD Scion tC. The 2009 season is going to be great! Stay tuned for more updates!

WORLD Racing made their way to the last official Battle of the Imports event of the 2008 season this past weekend at the hot California Dragway. Chris Rado would be going head-to-head with Marty Ladwig to compete for the second place position in the points race for the PRO FWD Championship. However, Ladwig trailed the WORLD Racing team by 76 points going into the weekend’s race. Chris and the rest of the team were still hot off their win at Battle of the Imports in Woodburn, Oregon three weekends earlier and weren’t going to let anyone get in their way of a successful weekend and a 2nd place series finish.

Saturday morning, Chris and the WORLD Racing PRO FWD Scion tC lined up for the first round of qualifying and ran a 7.58 ET at 193 mph. Not a bad way to start the day.

In the second round of qualifying, the track was a bit hotter as Chris backed up his first time with a 7.61 ET at 191 mph.

Going into the third qualifier of the day, which happened to be during the evening, the track temperatures had dropped. Chris managed to put down a 7.57 ET at 196.8 mph, which was not only the best ET of the weekend for the WORLD Racing team, but also the team’s highest mile-per-hour thus far of the season.

After three terrific and consistent qualifying runs, there were no signs of fatigue coming from the WORLD Racing Scion tC. Even better, Chris was in the number one qualifying spot.

Sunday morning, the team was prepared to lay down a faster qualifying run if by chance Ladwig ran an ET higher than theirs the day before. But due to Ladwig’s car problems, the WORLD Racing Scion tC did not need to complete another run and remained the 1st place qualifier.

For the first round of eliminations, Chris laid down a 7.54 ET at 193.5 mph, which become the WORLD Racing team’s new fastest ET of the weekend. The team was just getting faster and faster every round!

For the final round, Ladwig and Chris lined up ready to battle it out for the top podium position. Chris launched first and was ahead of Marty until he reached third gear, where Ladwig started to creep up, passing him before the finish line.

Chris had run a 7.49 ET at 195.8 mph, which was his absolute best run of the weekend. His time was a mere 0.19 seconds behind Ladwig.

Chris and WORLD Racing had finished in 2nd place for the weekend’s event and in 2nd place overall for the Battle of the Imports season.

“The WORLD Racing Scion tC was the most consistent car at the event and the most consistent it has ever been,” says Chris. “It’s been a great weekend, a great season, and I can’t wait till next year. With the modifications that the team will be making to the car, it will be an unstoppable machine to be feared next year. Thank you to all my sponsors, fans, and friends who have supported me through such a great season.”

Chris Rado and WORLD Racing made their way to Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) – a track unfamiliar to the team – this past weekend for NASA Time Trials. PIR is a short, very tight track; the kind of track that is an enemy to the WORLD Racing FWD Scion tC. “This isn’t the type of track that our Scion tC is designed for,” says Chris. “But when it comes down to racing, we race what we got and we run the tracks that we are there to race.”

The event at PIR had a great turnout of drivers, fans, and media. There were about 50 cars in the Time Trials category and over 250 cars racing overall. Chris and the rest of the WORLD Racing team felt it to be a very promising weekend.

The first session Saturday morning was a light session for Chris since he wasn’t familiar with the track and didn’t yet know his turning points, braking zones, and shift points. Chris brought the Scion tC back to the WORLD Racing pit early because he sensed there were some problems with the vehicle and didn’t want to chance it.

Due to some issues with the radiator and head gasket, the team decided to replace the engine. The spare engine they had in their possession was not quite in tip-top shape, so the team definitely had their work cut out for them. They needed to start by sourcing a head gasket and a radiator. Thanks to a local Scion dealership, the WORLD Racing team was able to check a head gasket off the list. UMS Tuning in Mesa, Arizona came in with flying colors and found the team two Mishimoto high-performance Scion tC radiators. Things were looking up for the WORLD Racing team.

The team worked for a solid eight hours and by 7 o’clock Saturday night, they had a running car with a brand new radiator and an engine in place that had raced at over five events, but with the new head gasket, everything seemed to be in working order. The team was ready to race on Sunday morning.

Sunday morning came and the WORLD Racing team was very excited to get back on the track and put down a good time. On the first session, Chris managed to clock a 1:05.94, claiming the new track record for a FWD vehicle which was only 0.4 seconds off the TTR overall track record held by Pete Creek and his fire-breathing Z06 Corvette. This was also the second overall best time in the Unlimited Time Trials class. Chris made it around the course eight more times, all of which he clocked times ranging in the 1:06’s. Chris was very happy with his driving and the handling of the Scion tC, especially taking into account how tight the course was.

For the second time trials session, Chris was gridded behind the track veteran in the Z06 Corvette who was known for taking the top honors repeatedly at PIR. Due to some technical issues with the car, Chris was unable to beat his time from the earlier session, but he still managed to run low 1:06’s.

Overall, Chris and the WORLD Racing team considered the weekend a major success. Especially since they had received top honors in the FWD and a second place finish overall in the Unlimited Time Trials category, which included AWD and RWD competitors as well. The team walked away from the track victorious with a new FWD track record and just shy of the overall track record for the Unlimited Time Trial race group.

Next up on the WORLD Racing nationwide takeover, NASA Time Trials at Buttonwillow Raceway October 11-12 where the team hopes to continue their great season with another victory!

Rado’s Quick Tips life skills presentations center on key universal truths RWC calls Quick Tips on Winning in Life, applicable to all children and teens regardless of age, cultural background, or life experience: find something to do in life that you really love, study – knowledge is power, learn the art of teamwork, find a mentor, take the long view, be flexible with your dreams and goals, avoid the path of least resistance, and more.

Rado, whose primary sponsor is family-owned/operated WORLD Electronics, is chiefly noted for his participation in import drag racing and time attack in the United States. Chris currently drives an 1800 hp factory-backed Scion tC in the Pro FWD category in the Battle of the Imports series. In addition to this, Chris also participates in time attack events, in the FWD Unlimited class in a 700 hp Scion tC, particularly in National Auto Sport Association (NASA) time attack, Super Street Super Lap Battles and Redline Time Attack.

So far for Chris’s 2008 season, he holds seven consecutive 1st place finishes, and another three runner-up finishes. Chris holds track records at venues all over the nation, and always sets out to break even his own records.

One of his more well-known achievements occurred in 2002 when he became the first PRO FWD into the “8s” (8.91 @ 159.8 MPH). This achievement would set the stage for Chris’s career to be known for setting the pace for everyone in the drag racing industry.

The presentations are also an avenue through which professional racers can give back to the communities where they live and race, by inspiring, affirming, empowering, and fueling the dreams of children and teens.

RACERS WHO CARE, INC.:

Racers Who Care, Inc. is a Los Angeles, California-based 501c3 charitable corporation, founded in 1993, that works with auto, boat, motorcycle and truck racers dedicated to making a positive difference for our next generation.

In Southern California, and throughout the U.S. in communities surrounding their tracks, RWC’s racers have unforgettably impacted kids with exciting observations on how to succeed, presented by people who have — very publicly, and in a field perceived as ruthless, tough and unforgiving.

Chris Rado and WORLD Racing traveled to Woodburn Drag Strip this past weekend in hopes of achieving another win at Battle of the Imports to add to their amazing 2008 season. The last time WORLD Racing participated in a drag race was back in July, since they have been busy winning time attacks, so you could say they were excited to get back to their roots.

Starting off on Saturday, WORLD Racing qualified in first place, even after having a few technical difficulties. The team was excited to have qualified first, especially with the not-so-up-to-par track conditions. There was not a lot of rubber on the track, allowing for no traction. Not the ideal situation for a drag car needing to keep the tires planted on the ground.

The WORLD Racing team knew that during eliminations they would really have to tone it down a bit to keep the car planted. Especially in order to put down a good number and win the event.

“We knew that it wouldn’t take even a fraction of the power that the tC had in order to put down a good run,” says Chris. “We turned the power way down to try to make it down the track, because if you can’t get down the track, you can’t win a race.”

Chris lined up for eliminations. As soon as the tree lights dropped, Chris took off and ran a 7.73 at 185.52 mph. This ET set the new track record at Woodburn Drag Strip. With this 1st place finish, Chris moves into 2nd place overall in points in front of Marty Ladwig for the Battle of the Imports series.

To top off the great weekend, Chris’s ET had beaten the old Woodburn track record by three-tenths of a second! Chris and the rest of the WORLD Racing team were pumped about their finish and are now looking forward to Battle of the Imports in Fontana,California, October 18th and 19th. “It’s gonna be a battle royal when Scion collides with the other competitors in Fontana,” says Chris. “Those guys better watch out because WORLD Racing is coming out swinging!”

Chris Rado and the rest of the WORLD Racing team arrived at the gate of Summit Point Raceway bright and early Saturday morning for Redline Time Attack, ready to get on the Shenandoah track and earn their fifth consecutive time attack win. The team unloaded the WORLD Racing Scion tC and prepped it for the first practice session of the day. Chris and the team remembered this same event last year at Summit Point, where they unfortunately didn’t get a chance to lay down a good number due to some technical failures; so this year, they wanted to make sure nothing got in their way of victory.

The Shenandoah course is very tight forcing the driver to mainly stay in second and third gears. There are only a few spots on the course where the driver would ever need to be in forth gear. And just like the short, tight course at Nashville Speedway, this course was going to be a challenge for the high horse-powered Scion tC coming out of the turns with limited traction. Chris also needed to overcome some braking issues which forced him to focus less on line and driving technique, and more on how to brake going around the course. Not to mention, on the last lap of the practice session after a hop on the track, the transmission exploded. You could say that things were not looking at their brightest for Chris and the team. But even with all these issues, Chris was able to pull out a 1.38.8 on the first session, the second fastest time of the day.

The WORLD Racing team got the Scion tC back into the paddock and prepared to change the transmission. Quick as always, the team pushed to get the car all back together in one piece. But they still managed to just barely miss the final call for the last practice session of the day because they were still working on the car. But with what had happened earlier in the first session and since the track was so ruthless, Chris and the team thought that perhaps it wasn’t a bad idea to wait until the next day to get back on the track and really make it count in the actual time attack session. So with this decision in place, they spent the rest of Saturday night making sure the tC would be perfect for the first time attack session Sunday morning.

Sunday morning Chris got out on the track in the first session and ran 1.36.2, a good improvement over his time the day before. This time was enough for WORLD Racing to grab the Unlimited FWD 1st place spot. The closest competitor was almost three seconds behind this time. This time was also the record fastest time for a FWD vehicle at Summit Point’s Shenandoah circuit. Chris and the WORLD Racing team were very pleased with the weekend and with their results. WORLD Racing walked away from West Virginia with their fifth consecutive win of the 2008 season.

Next up on the exciting WORLD Racing schedule, Chris and the team will be at Pocono North Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, September 6-7th for Super Street Super Lap Battle where they hope to round up their sixth consecutive win! Stay tuned!

Chris Rado and the rest of the WORLD Racing team made their way to Road Atlanta for the Super Street Super Lap Battle and the NASA Hot’lanta Nationals, the biggest NASA southeast event of the year. At this huge event, there was about a combined 450 cars racing at the track – everything from Porsche Cup cars to Corvette Cup cars, full chassis lolas and radicals to sport compacts like Subaru’s, Hondas, and the of course, the deadly and feared WORLD Racing Scion tC.

WORLD Racing was very excited to get back to the Road Atlanta track, considering that they already held a record for FWD best lap time at this venue. After coming off three straight wins, and making improvements in the tC at every event, Chris and the team knew that they would be on fire in Hot’lanta.

In the first session on Saturday, the WORLD Racing team decided to take it easy by going out on the track to warm-up and make sure everything was working properly. Chris ran a 1:34.6, which was almost a second and a half faster than their current track record at Road Atlanta. Not a bad way to start the event!

Chris was very excited about this record breaking time, especially since he hadn’t even really pushed the Scion tC yet. This time was also a full five seconds faster than the record time for any Super Street Super Lap Battle competitor at Road Atlanta. The only car faster than Chris on this first lap was Ed White in his Porsche GT3 who ran a 1:32.89

By the time round two came around, the WORLD Racing team had made some tweaks to improve their time. And you know that’s exactly what they did! Ed White was right on the money again with another 1:32 lap time, but Chris bested him with a time of 1:31.92. Not to mention WORLD Racing had also improved their past time by over three seconds.

After accomplishing his first goal, Chris now had his sights set on beating the Porsche Cup car that had run a 1:31.59 in the second session. Chris was ecstatic that he was only three-tenths of a second behind this half-a-million dollar Cup car. He had left everyone at the track amazed and scratching their heads that he had just ran such an incredible time in a four-cylinder tC with a stock transmission and many other stock components.

Towards the end of the second session, Chris caught one of the gators trying to pinch off an apex a little sooner, hitting the oil pan ever so slightly. Chris got the car off the track to avoid any more damage to the car. It had taken five races to finally bottom out the oil pan pickup to kill Gary Kubo’s “little engine that could” – which the team wasn’t too mad about because it was just so amazing how strong the motor was to have lasted for five consecutive events.

They team took the old motor out of the car and took the already prepared new motor out of the trailer and made the swap. Unfortunately, they had to miss the last session on Saturday, but they were prepared to do battle with the new motor Sunday morning. Chris and the team wanted badly to get into the 1:20’s and beat the Porsche Cup car. So it was crucial that the WORLD Racing Scion tC be in perfect shape for session one on Sunday.

Sunday morning the crew got to the track bright and early to have the car completely ready for the first session. They knew that with the high amount of cars on the track, the team was going to get only one or two laps at best to make it happen. On the first hot lap, Chris pushed a little harder everywhere he could. This extra push allowed Chris to run a 1:30.76. This time was more than a second faster than the day before and almost eight seconds faster than any FWD had ever been at Road Atlanta. By the looks on the faces of drivers, team members, and fans at Road Atlanta, they were boggled. Chris had beaten the Porsche Cup car’s time by almost a tenth of a second.

Chris came in 1st place overall at the Super Street Super Lap Battle, beating out all the AWD and RWD cars, which is a first for the WORLD Racing team. On Saturday, Chris had received 1st place in the NASA TTR Unlimited time trials and was 2nd place on Sunday. Overall, Chris was the second fastest car at the track over the weekend.

Next up on the agenda, Chris and the WORLD Racing team will be at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia for Redline Time Attack, where they will be going for their fifth consecutive win. The WORLD Racing team is on fire and has no plans of being put out anytime soon! Chris would like to thank his sponsors, fans, friends, and family for their amazing support!

Coming off of two consecutive wins, Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing team were very excited to be heading to Nashville Motor Speedway for another Redline Time Attack event. The Nashville Motor Speedway track is a much shorter and tighter course than Chris is used to, which meant he would be using second and third gear coming out of the turns; this is difficult for the tC because it is such a high-horsepower car. But even with knowing that he was definitely going to have his work cut out for him this weekend, Chris was ready for the challenge and had his aim set on another 1st place finish.

The team arrived in Nashville on Friday, just in time for the HIN Nightshift event at the Nashville Music City Motorplex. The WORLD Racing Scion tC was on display with all the NOS Energy Drink main attractions, and the fans were given a sight of the car that was going to be gunning for 1st place the following morning.

Saturday morning came and the Nashville temperature was up and blazing. The WORLD Racing team waited until the second session to get on the hot track. When Chris got on the track, what he thought to have been his not-so-up-to-par time, ending up being the fastest track time of the day thus far by about a half of a second!

After making some changes to the car in order to get a little more aggressive, Chris went back out on the track for the third session to improve his time. Chris ended the final session with the second highest time of the day – the fastest time was completed by the AWD Top Speed Subaru Impreza, who would turn out to be Chris’s main competition of the weekend.

Going into Sunday, after some changes to the tC and some new tires, Chris went out during the first practice session, to shave a few seconds off his time. He succeeded in this goal when he ran a 1.07.1 – not far behind the 1.05.8 top time of the Top Speed Subaru.

After prepping the tC for the first time attack session that actually counted of the weekend, Chris and the WORLD Racing Scion tC were gridded second behind the Top Speed Subaru. As soon as Chris left the line and pulled second gear, the transmission locked up. So the team pulled the car back into the pit area and saw that they needed to replace the transmission.

“This track was definitely rough on the car,” says Chris. “The transitions on and off the oval were really tough – you come from a high-banked oval onto a flat surface at such a high speed, it really beats up on all the parts of the car.”

Chris and the team worried at first that they might not be able to get back on the track for the next session, especially since the WORLD Racing Scion tC is a unibody car and it usually takes about five hours to do a transmission. “Fortunately, with the experience and level of expertise of the guys on my team,” says Chris, “they were able to get [the transmission] out, changed, replace the axels, and get it all back together in racing shape for the final session.”

Chris and the tC got on the grid for the third session of the day – the second session that actually counted – and was prepared to get himself on the board since he was unable to finish the session prior. Chris was gridded second again behind the Subaru.

“We knew we had to put a good number on the board right away,” says Chris. “And that is just was we did.” Chris laid down a lap time of 1.05.5, which was just a tenth of a second behind the track record for a production body vehicle.

By receiving this time, which was five seconds faster than any other FWD competitor at the event, Chris and the WORLD Racing team were awarded 1st place in the Unlimited FWD Class. They were also 2nd place overall at the event, barely trailing behind the AWD Top Speed Subaru Impreza. And to put the icing on the cake, Chris and the WORLD Racing Scion tC now hold the new track record for the fastest FWD lap time at Nashville Motor Speedway. What a weekend!

This win in Nashville makes three straight 1st place finishes for WORLD Racing, and this is a streak that the team doesn’t plan to let fade anytime soon. Next up on the team’s busy schedule – Road Atlanta, August 8 – 10, for Super Street Super Lap Battle where the WORLD Racing team, Chris Rado, and the WORLD Racing NOS Energy Drink Scion tC will be ready to bring home another victory.
