Seventh Consecutive Win & New Track Record for WORLD Racing
Chris Rado and WORLD Racing traveled to Woodburn Drag Strip this past weekend in hopes of achieving another win at Battle of the Imports to add to their amazing 2008 season. The last time WORLD Racing participated in a drag race was back in July, since they have been busy winning time attacks, so you could say they were excited to get back to their roots.
Starting off on Saturday, WORLD Racing qualified in first place, even after having a few technical difficulties. The team was excited to have qualified first, especially with the not-so-up-to-par track conditions. There was not a lot of rubber on the track, allowing for no traction. Not the ideal situation for a drag car needing to keep the tires planted on the ground.
The WORLD Racing team knew that during eliminations they would really have to tone it down a bit to keep the car planted. Especially in order to put down a good number and win the event.
“We knew that it wouldn’t take even a fraction of the power that the tC had in order to put down a good run,” says Chris. “We turned the power way down to try to make it down the track, because if you can’t get down the track, you can’t win a race.”
Chris lined up for eliminations. As soon as the tree lights dropped, Chris took off and ran a 7.73 at 185.52 mph. This ET set the new track record at Woodburn Drag Strip. With this 1st place finish, Chris moves into 2nd place overall in points in front of Marty Ladwig for the Battle of the Imports series.
To top off the great weekend, Chris’s ET had beaten the old Woodburn track record by three-tenths of a second! Chris and the rest of the WORLD Racing team were pumped about their finish and are now looking forward to Battle of the Imports in Fontana,California, October 18th and 19th. “It’s gonna be a battle royal when Scion collides with the other competitors in Fontana,” says Chris. “Those guys better watch out because WORLD Racing is coming out swinging!”
