Tokyo Nonsense
Scion has brought together 11 talented Japanese artists to display their “nonsense” at Scion Installation L.A. Gallery in Culver City, Calif. this October.
In TOKYO NONSENSE, Ichiro Endo, Taro Izumi, Ai Kato (akaai madonna), Sachiko Kazama, Iichiro Tanaka, and the six-member ChimôPom will exhibit art based on the cultural connotation of the word “nonsense”, which has been used throughout Japanese history to describe all things scandalous, inappropriate and rebellious.
From anime to installation art, each artist brings forth a unique artistic perspective on Japanese society and politics. The event’s curator will be Gabriel Ritter, an American specializing in Japanese ar. The event will also feature live performances by Ai Kato (akaai madonna) and DJ DIGIKI (Tokyo Fun Party).
TOKYO NONSENSE will open on October 4 at 7 p.m. PT.
