Scotts Valley High student wins a car

A Scotts Valley High School student was delighted to find out she had won a car in a statewide sweepstakes

Scotts Valley High School senior Julia Huggins couldn’t stop smiling on Friday morning.

Huggins was awarded a 2009 Toyota Scion xB in front of the entire school at the winter sports rally after winning the “Slow for the Cone Zone” sweepstakes sponsored by Caltrans.

Huggins took an online quiz after watching a safety video on the Caltrans Web site. Her name was drawn from about 6,000 entrants from across the state.

“I really didn’t take it too seriously,” said Huggins who shared a car with her mother before the sweepstakes win. “It was a very big surprise.”

Huggins was also awarded $1,000 and a year of roadside assistance from AAA.
