Scion xB / Ford Transit Comparison
Former Toyota employee and new Ford Motor Co’s sales and marketing czar, Jim Farley, made a wild observation about Ford’s new Transit Connect van. Apparently it, somehow, reminds him of a Scion xB. Uh… wha?
It’s hardly surprising that Ford Motor Co.’s new sales and marketing czar, Jim Farley, was effusive in his praise for the new Ford Transit Connect van during a dinner with journalists at Ford Motor Co.’s Product Development Center in Dearborn on Monday.
But Farley raised a few eyebrows when he revealed the cause for his adulation.
“As an ex-Scion guy, I think this is great,” he said. “It reminds me of an xB!”
Insider couldn’t tell if it was simple nostalgia for his old employer, Scion parent Toyota Motor Corp., or the distorting effect of those new “Ford-blue glasses.” While the Scion xB looks like a vehicle that might be driven by a SoCal surfer, the Transit Connect looks like a van that might make parcel delivery drivers go weak in the knees. One is cool, the other a tool.
But, hey, put some aftermarket rims on the thing and airbrush the sides and you might be on to something, Jim.
