Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing team commenced the long weekend by testing the PRO FWD WORLD Racing Scion tC at Atco Raceway, in order to verify that the new clutch they installed was working properly. After fighting with the “clutch gremlins” as Chris said, the team finally got everything in working order and was ready to head south, to Maryland International Raceway for Battle of the Imports.
The WORLD Racing team was set to qualify on Friday evening. The team hustled to get the car to the staging lane, Chris did his burnout, and everything seemed to be in working order. The lights came down and he launched the car, but something didn’t feel quite right. Chris ended up aborting the run within three seconds of leaving the line. The team went back to the pits to figure out what the issue was. Turns out it was a spark plug issue that they immediately corrected.

Four years after it first hit showrooms, the Scion tC will finally make a showing in a professional road racing series. And no, factory optioned and equipped vehicles being tossed around Long Beach by B-list celebrities cannot be considered professional. A tC has already been heavily modified to compete in the Formula Drift series, but the peppy compact’s road race profile, outside the annual celebrity race of course, has been relatively low. This weekend though, Toyota’s sporty little coupe will be moving up from amateur abuse to make its big time debut in Grand-Am’s KONI Challenge Series. This week’s race will take place at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH and the tC will be part of the ST (Sport Touring) class.

Ball resident, Dee Dee Miller, has been a scion car owner for the past two years. Her son, Cory, is starting out at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA and Dee Dee’s one wish was to have another Scion for him to drive back and forth to school. That wish seemed nearly impossible when she received an e-mail from “all-star automotive”…it was a message of opportunity that turned into a dream come true.

Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing team had high hopes when returning to their home track of Atco Raceway. The team decided to up the ante by installing a new clutch for the first time this season in the PRO FWD NOS Energy Drink WORLD Racing Scion tC. For the entire last season, the tC had been running a pro-stock style clutch. But as the engine program progressed and the tC became more powerful, the original pro-stock components that were designed to handle 1,600 horsepower just weren’t cutting it.
Chris and the WORLD Racing team were ready for qualifying on Saturday – until the rain decided it wanted to join in on the fun at ATCO Raceway. In other words, Saturday’s events were rained out. So the team could do nothing more but prepare to qualify Sunday instead, and then head straight into the elimination rounds.

WORLD Racing dominates the Dyno Challenge and takes 1st place in Time Attack for FWD at the annual Modified Ultimate Tuner Challenge
WORLD Racing made their way to the second annual Modified Ultimate Tuner Challenge which was held May 23rd and 24th at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. At an event comprised of both road racing, drag racing, and drifting, there was no surprise when a crowd of over 10,000 showed up. “It was a great weekend for sport compact and motorsports in general,” says Chris Rado, driver for and owner of the WORLD Racing team.
Modified ran the Ultimate Tuner Challenge in three categories – FWD, RWD and AWD – and there was to be an overall winner as well as a winner in each category. “For us, we are not just out their competing with front-wheel-drive, we are out there to win the entire event,” says Chris.

The federal safety agency is about to pull the trigger on a new roof crush standard. And Senator Mark Pryor (D-Arkansas) is not at all happy with it.
He has scheduled hearings on the issue for June 4.
Pryor is chair of the Senate Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Consumer Affairs, Insurance, and Automotive Safety.
The current roof crush standard requires the roof to support 1.5 times the weight of the vehicle.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) new proposed standard would require roofs to support 2.5 times the weight of the vehicle.

Rachel Farris isn’t superstitious, but she knew the 666-HXX license plates on her Scion tC were a bad omen. When a friend and fellow Barack Obama fan told her OBAMA vanity plates were still available in Texas, the 24-year-old felt karma shift back her way.
“I went from having devil plates to having Obama plates,” said Ms. Farris, who volunteers on Democratic campaigns in Austin and has a Texas political blog, www.MeanRachel.com. “I mean, what are the odds?”
