WORLD Racing Rounds Up Fifth Consecutive Time Attack Win

Chris Rado and the rest of the WORLD Racing team arrived at the gate of Summit Point Raceway bright and early Saturday morning for Redline Time Attack, ready to get on the Shenandoah track and earn their fifth consecutive time attack win. The team unloaded the WORLD Racing Scion tC and prepped it for the first practice session of the day. Chris and the team remembered this same event last year at Summit Point, where they unfortunately didn’t get a chance to lay down a good number due to some technical failures; so this year, they wanted to make sure nothing got in their way of victory.

Another Track Record & First Place Finish for WORLD Racing

Chris Rado and the rest of the WORLD Racing team made their way to Road Atlanta for the Super Street Super Lap Battle and the NASA Hot’lanta Nationals, the biggest NASA southeast event of the year. At this huge event, there was about a combined 450 cars racing at the track – everything from Porsche Cup cars to Corvette Cup cars, full chassis lolas and radicals to sport compacts like Subaru’s, Hondas, and the of course, the deadly and feared WORLD Racing Scion tC.

WORLD Racing was very excited to get back to the Road Atlanta track, considering that they already held a record for FWD best lap time at this venue. After coming off three straight wins, and making improvements in the tC at every event, Chris and the team knew that they would be on fire in Hot’lanta.

Chris Rado and WORLD Racing Bring Home Their Third Consecutive 1st Place Finish

Coming off of two consecutive wins, Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing team were very excited to be heading to Nashville Motor Speedway for another Redline Time Attack event. The Nashville Motor Speedway track is a much shorter and tighter course than Chris is used to, which meant he would be using second and third gear coming out of the turns; this is difficult for the tC because it is such a high-horsepower car. But even with knowing that he was definitely going to have his work cut out for him this weekend, Chris was ready for the challenge and had his aim set on another 1st place finish.

A First Place Finish and a Number One Qualifying Time For WORLD Racing

Over the weekend, Chris Rado and WORLD Racing traveled to Willow Springs International Raceway for Super Lap Battle. Chris and the WORLD Racing Scion tC always compete in the Unlimited FWD class, but Chris likes to think that they are actually competing with all the classes for the best time of the weekend. “Competing with RWD and AWD cars with extremely talented drivers is very challenging,” says Chris, “and that’s exactly what we are in the business for.”

Chris Rado Takes 2nd place at the Battle of the Imports MIR

Chris Rado and the WORLD Racing team commenced the long weekend by testing the PRO FWD WORLD Racing Scion tC at Atco Raceway, in order to verify that the new clutch they installed was working properly. After fighting with the “clutch gremlins” as Chris said, the team finally got everything in working order and was ready to head south, to Maryland International Raceway for Battle of the Imports.

The WORLD Racing team was set to qualify on Friday evening. The team hustled to get the car to the staging lane, Chris did his burnout, and everything seemed to be in working order. The lights came down and he launched the car, but something didn’t feel quite right. Chris ended up aborting the run within three seconds of leaving the line. The team went back to the pits to figure out what the issue was. Turns out it was a spark plug issue that they immediately corrected.

Scion to go road racing in KONI Challenge

Four years after it first hit showrooms, the Scion tC will finally make a showing in a professional road racing series. And no, factory optioned and equipped vehicles being tossed around Long Beach by B-list celebrities cannot be considered professional. A tC has already been heavily modified to compete in the Formula Drift series, but the peppy compact’s road race profile, outside the annual celebrity race of course, has been relatively low. This weekend though, Toyota’s sporty little coupe will be moving up from amateur abuse to make its big time debut in Grand-Am’s KONI Challenge Series. This week’s race will take place at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, OH and the tC will be part of the ST (Sport Touring) class.

The Scion tC and the team will make their debut in the highly-competitive Grand-Am KONI Challenge series this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sportscar Course in Lexington, Ohio.
