Some of the most respected former Formula One (F1) drivers are ready to go wheel-to-wheel in this year’s Toyota Race of Legends at the 35th annual Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, presented by Toyota. In addition to good-natured bragging rights, these drivers are looking to secure a $25,000 check that will be donated to the winner’s selected charity.

Edmunds.com, the premier online resource for automotive information, estimated today that the average automotive manufacturer incentive in the U.S. was $2,483 per vehicle sold in May 2008, up $132, or 5.6 percent, from April 2008, and up $117, or 5.0 percent, from May 2007.

Castle Toyota/Scion in Southeast Baltimore promised $8,400 in scholarships to four graduating seniors from Patterson High School to cover tuition at Baltimore City Community College.
But in a dispute over publicity, the dealership withdrew its offer, leaving all parties feeling bitter.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported May sales of 257,404 vehicles, a decrease of 7.9 percent from last May, on a daily selling rate basis.
“The all-new Corolla really found its stride this month,” said TMS President Jim Lentz. “Launched amid soaring fuel prices and economic uncertainty, Corolla strikes a sweet spot for buyers seeking refinement in addition to fuel efficiency and affordability.”
The Toyota Division posted May sales of 230,811, a decrease of 6.3 percent from last May. The Lexus Division reported May sales of 26,593 units, a decrease of 19.6 percent from the year-ago month.

It’s easy! All you have to do is register at the Toyota of Southern Maryland dealership at 21578 Great Mills Road, Lexington Park, MD 20653 or Team Hyundai at 21600 Great Mills Road, Lexington Park, between now and May 14th.
On May 15th through May 26th, everything moves to the new dealership location on 235 in California.
On May 30th we will pick 20 lucky winners at random from all the registrations.
On May 31st, the 20 winners will each draw one key from a hat and take a chance to start the car. If the 2006 Scion starts, that person wins! Entrants must be 18 to enter.
The other 19 people will each win a consolation gift voucher. There will be live Bay Net coverage of the event and fun and prizes for everyone that attends the giveaway celebration.

Japan-based auto manufacturer Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. (TM) announced a 4.5% fall in its April sales from last year led by lower truck sales. On an unadjusted basis, sales grew 3.4%.
The company’s April sales slipped 4.5% to 217,700 from the year earlier month. The Toyota Division’s sales fell 2.7% to 194,350 units for April, while Lexus Division’s sales dropped 17.1% to 23,350 units over the year-ago month.
Commenting on the April sales number, Toyota Motor Sales president Jim Lentz said, “Smaller vehicles are going over big. With oil prices at record levels, compact cars and hybrids continue to lead the way.”
