A motorized creation of the University of Virginia’s engineering school will be featured in a Discovery Science Channel special called “Robocars” Monday night.

Team Jefferson’s robotic car, the “Tommy 2,” was a joint creation between Virginia students and Charlottesville-based business Perrone Robotics.

The car is a Scion X5 and has been modified to drive itself. It navigated 60 miles on its own through a city course in Victorville, California.

The special premieres at 10 p.m.
