Global creative and brand-engineering agency ATTIK ( http://www.attik.com) and Scion are very proud to announce that the recently launched website for the new “United By Individuality” campaign will be honored as today’s “Site of the Day” on the prestigious Favourite Website Awards (FWA) site, which is online at TheFWA.com.
The “United By Individuality” campaign pays tribute to Scion owners and the broader Scion community. With the campaign’s creative approach ambitiously calling for hundreds of Scion owners to unite earlier this year with their xAs, xBs, tCs and xDs for a massive photo and film shoot in the Nevada desert, the results have debuted over the past several weeks in various integrated campaign elements, including a 60-second cinema/television spot called “Declaration,” as well as in print and online media.

When Toyota unveiled Scion at auto shows in 2002-03, Jim Farley, who then was a vp at the company, proclaimed, “We’re about providing Generation Y with concepts that stand out from the crowd.” Indeed, marketing support positioned Scion as being quirky with a hefty dash of individuality, and came with a DJ/hip-hop soundtrack. Art shows, musical performances, a series of CDs with artists outside the boundaries of mainstream and other “culture-vulture” events drove, and built, that connection.
In 2008, as the auto industry has struggled, Scion sales are up 7.1% through July, per Autodata, Woodcliff Lake, N.J. However, critics claim that the brand’s hold on the coveted target demo is not as solid as it has been. To establish itself anew, Scion is chasing 18-24-year-olds who are just forming their buying habits. These entertainment efforts have been led and coordinated by Jeri Yoshizu, sales and promotions manager for Scion at Toyota, Torrance, Calif., She spoke with Brandweek about marketing strategies.

Chris Rado and the rest of the WORLD Racing team arrived at the gate of Summit Point Raceway bright and early Saturday morning for Redline Time Attack, ready to get on the Shenandoah track and earn their fifth consecutive time attack win. The team unloaded the WORLD Racing Scion tC and prepped it for the first practice session of the day. Chris and the team remembered this same event last year at Summit Point, where they unfortunately didn’t get a chance to lay down a good number due to some technical failures; so this year, they wanted to make sure nothing got in their way of victory.

Yet again the Internet gives us a chance to observe a gift of an “Epic” argument between a Bad guy and a Good Guy.
Jalopnik, as well as quite a few other web sites, forums and projects are following the story of the custom built Toyota Celica.
The highlights of the story are:
1) The customer drops off his Toyota Celica for custom work to be done.
2) The customer adds quite a set up in addition to the new paint job, totaling in approximately $16,000 and 4.5 months worth of work.
3) The customer tries to get the car back without paying for parts or labor. When he is not able to get the car, he threatens to sue the shop.
Since the conflict has started just a few days ago, we are still waiting for the appropriate resolution.

Toyota has a new city car that will debut in Europe next year called the iQ. It’s what you’d call a super-mini car, like the Smart ForTwo as it’s only 9.8 feet long while the Smart is 8.8 feet.

Chris Rado and the rest of the WORLD Racing team made their way to Road Atlanta for the Super Street Super Lap Battle and the NASA Hot’lanta Nationals, the biggest NASA southeast event of the year. At this huge event, there was about a combined 450 cars racing at the track – everything from Porsche Cup cars to Corvette Cup cars, full chassis lolas and radicals to sport compacts like Subaru’s, Hondas, and the of course, the deadly and feared WORLD Racing Scion tC.
WORLD Racing was very excited to get back to the Road Atlanta track, considering that they already held a record for FWD best lap time at this venue. After coming off three straight wins, and making improvements in the tC at every event, Chris and the team knew that they would be on fire in Hot’lanta.

After five years generating big headlines and relatively small sales, Toyota’s youth-oriented Scion brand is at a crossroads.
Toyota executives are rethinking some of the basic principles they set out for the brand - how many and what kind of vehicles Scion should sell - as they work to keep it fresh and innovative.
It’s unclear whether they can do it, and some industry observers have begun to ask whether Scion was a misstep by Toyota’s usually sure-footed strategists.
